Strict guidelines have been
established in virtually all
businesses to avoid spreading
COVID-19, and the real estate
industry is no different.
Kentucky REALTORS, one of
the largest and most influential
associations in the Commonwealth,
has aggregated important guidance
concerning property listings,
showings, and closings.
According to their website, real
estate agents “should come to a
showing equipped with items to
protect themselves, the buyer, and
the homeowner from exposure or
the transmittal of disease.”
They also recommend that
realtors develop “showing kits”
that are equipped with disposable
masks, gloves, shoe covers,
disinfectant, and hand sanitizer.
Sears said that she has been
happy to change her normal routine
in order to adhere to the new
restrictions.
“I am showing houses by
appointment only, wearing a mask,
and observing social distancing
practices at all times,” she said. “We
have all been taking precautions
and working hard to finalize
closings in the safest way possible.”
Ford and Sears are hopeful
that the trend will continue but
acknowledge that the future of the
housing market remains unknown.
“We don’t yet know how the riots
and unrest in the country will affect
us here in Somerset, but that’s
what we’ll be talking about in six
months,” Sears said.
