Pathways Receives Notable Grants

Pathways has received multiple grants from notable organizations to support its programs and projects so that it may continue serving the northern Colorado community .
The first grant is from the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado in the amount of $ 5,000 . This grant benefited the Children ’ s Healing Garden project to help us reach the fundraising goal of $ 500,000 .
The second grant is from the Cancer League of Colorado in the amount of $ 3,500 . These funds are specifically used to provide compassionate and expert hospice care for individuals with a terminal cancer diagnosis .
In addition , the Volentine Family Foundation awarded Pathways a grant in the amount of $ 10,000 . This generous amount has also been used to support the Children ’ s Healing Garden project .

Pathways Welcomes New President : Nate Lamkin

Pathways is pleased to welcome its new president , Nate Lamkin , who began this position in May 2017 . Lamkin worked for more than six years at Care Dimensions , the largest nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider in Massachusetts .
As Senior Director of Patient and Family Support Services and a member of the Care Dimensions senior leadership team , he was responsible for the planning , development , implementation and evaluation of Care Dimensions ’ extensive array of support programs and services . In addition , Nate served on the Advisory Board for the Massachusetts Center for Unexpected Infant and Child Death and chaired the Advisory Board of Camp Kesem-MIT , the local chapter of a nationwide organization that supports children through and beyond their parent ’ s cancer .
In addition , Lamkin provided programmatic oversight of several specialty programs , including Care Dimensions ’ Pediatric Hospice program , and served as chairperson of the Ethics Committee and the Committee for Diversity & Inclusion . Lamkin joined Care Dimensions in 2010 as a social worker and later was promoted to Director of Bereavement Services & Program Development . Even as a member of Care Dimensions ’ senior management team , Lamkin continued his grief and loss work , leading support groups and serving as a community resource on grief and healing . Lamkin ’ s experience includes starting two new hospice agencies in Massachusetts , taking them from initial licensure and certification to significant census growth . He also previously served on the Executive Board of the Dana-Farber / Brigham and Women ’ s Cancer Center in Boston .
This multitude of experience will serve Lamkin well as he begins his new journey as the leader of Pathways .

Pathways Employee Attends Honor Flight Northern Colorado

As part of its ongoing support for veterans in northern Colorado , Pathways had the unique opportunity to participate in Honor Flight
Northern Colorado . Pathways employee , Therese Burns , Clinical Services Executive Assistant , served as one of the Honor Flight Guardians on this momentous journey .
Honor Flight Northern Colorado took place May 7-8 , 2017 and shuttled more than 120 World War II , Korean War and Vietnam War veterans on a plane to Washington D . C . While at the nation ’ s capital , the veterans and their escorts toured the World War II
Memorial , Vietnam War Memorial and the Korean War Memorial .
In addition , Vice President Pence invited the group to his wing of the White House to address them personally with a heartfelt speech .
Burns ’ involvement in this memorable experience reinforces how much Pathways and its staff respect and honor those who have served our country .
