Employer Review

At the end of your period of work experience , it would helpful for you to have feedback on your time with the organisation . If you are not on a formal placement , you can decide how , when and who you speak to regarding your progress . This feedback can be helpful in reflecting upon your skills development , your profile for the career that you are considering , how you fit into this kind of organisation and provide an opportunity to ask for a reference in the future .
Depending upon your relationship with your supervisor / mentor , you could consider :
• Asking him / her to assess your skills and abilities .
• Comparing your own ratings with those of your employer .
• Requesting feedback on your progress and achievements .
• Identifying areas and opportunities for development .
• Obtaining valuable evidence for future employment applications .
If this is a valuable discussion , you could build this into your Personal Development Planning .

• Record those aspects you did not manage to practise , develop or improve .
• Try to identify how you could seek to develop in these areas ? Consider opportunities at University - clubs / societies , voluntary work , further work experience or courses .
• Were any new development needs identified as a result of your work experience ? Consider what you could do to develop in these areas .
• Did your experience inform your career choice in any way , resulting in identification of skills or knowledge necessary for entry to this profession ? Is there any further action you need to take , for example visit Careers and Employability or redraft your CV ?
• You may find it helpful to use the PDP template in to organise this information in a more user-friendly format and go back to the original Action Planning Template for considering the action you will take to enhance current skills and knowledge as well as developing new goals .
