8.3 COMPLETE SAFETY QUIZ AND GENERATE
DATASHEET
There will be an online safety quiz for you to complete and a datasheet
to generate (for non-Engineer and non-Science students) before you are
granted access to the internship registration system. This is to help you
gain better awareness of workplace safety during your internship.
8.4 SECURE AN INTERNSHIP
Internship placements are highly competitive - large numbers of
students from the various universities and polytechnics are engaged in
internships throughout each year. So, start as early as possible to secure
an internship placement, preferably at least 6 months ahead of your
scheduled internship start date.
There are two main approaches for securing an internship placement:
•
Apply for opportunities on CAO’s internship portal
CAO has a large pool of industry partners that provide internship
opportunities to NTU students each year. You can view and apply
for them on CAO’s internship portal by the stipulated deadlines.
Companies will then interview applicants and make their offers.
The number of offers you receive will, of course, depend on your
performance in the selection process. Remember that you can only
receive one offer.
• Self-sourcing
You may source for an internship placement on your own according
to your area of interest. This can either be in a local or overseas
organisation. The internship job scope needs to be relevant to your
course of study and is subject to your School’s approval. Check out
the self-sourcing guidelines in the next section.
