6.2 INTERNSHIP WORK
Remember that an internship is essentially a learning opportunity through
professional work. Making the most of your internship, thus, involves performing
well at work as well as articulating the experience and learning concretely and
succinctly. Here are some pointers to get you started:
a. Reflect and adjust your attitude
• Be trustworthy and reliable with small things and that will reflect your
potential for bigger things.
• Be prepared to roll-up your sleeves to work even on simple, mundane
tasks. Being in university does not automatically entitle you to higher
level work.
• Be punctual and present at all times. This shows respect. Keep in mind
that reciprocity goes a long way.
• Be proactive and take initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do.
• Be ready to challenge yourself out of your comfort zone.
• Be responsible and own your decisions and actions fully.
