HHS Career Exploration Intern

Job Summary

The Career Exploration Intern will gain hands-on exposure to the wide range of programs, services, and career pathways within the Health and Human Services( HHS) Department. This internship is designed to help the participant explore professional interests, learn foundational workplace skills, and understand how integrated health and human services support the well-being of Tribal Citizens and the community.
Throughout the internship, the intern will rotate through multiple HHS divisions and shadow staff in various roles. They will observe daily operations, assist with basic project tasks, and learn about the educational requirements, certifications, and career pathways associated with each area— including behavioral health, public health, outpatient services, family services, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Rotate through various HHS divisions to observe workflows and service delivery.
• Shadow professionals in multiple roles to gain insight into different career paths.
• Participate in basic tasks or projects under staff supervision.
• Learn about the purpose, structure, and responsibilities of each HHS program.
• Gain exposure to culturally responsive and community-centered service practices.
• Attend team meetings, trainings, or events as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.

• Interest in health care, behavioral health, social services, public health, or related fields.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and engage with multiple teams.
