Dan Howell and Phil Lester have been on YouTube creating quality content for years. They had a radio show, Internet Takeover, on BBC Radio 1. They’ve presented at the Brit Awards 3 times and have won numerous awards.

Last year the duo released their book, The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire and tickets for a show, The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire, that travelled across the UK.

This year, Dan and Phil revealed that they would be bringing The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire to the US and Canada in April through June.

Being a fan of Dan and Phil for years, I naturally went to the show nearest me. I was excited to finally see them, if only onstage, since I didn’t get the VIP tickets that included a meet-and-greet.

There were fans from as young as maybe eight to as old as full-grown adults, with merch from danandphilshop.com and cat whiskers drawn on. It was comforting to know that there was so many people near you who loved and cared about the same two grown men.

Inside the auditorium, music played before the show began. Nearly everyone knew exactly what songs they were and sang along. One of the most bonding moments between all the fans was when ‘Breaking Free’ from High School Musical played and everyone sang along. ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears, a signature Dan and Phil song, and ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ by My Chemical Romance were also favorites.

Now, I can’t say too much about the show, since we all promised to spread no spoilers (therefore the lack of photos), but I can say that it was immensely enjoyable. Puns, costumes, skits, games, and fan inclusion were outstanding. Of course, I may be biased, but my mother came with me, and she enjoyed it as well.

The only thing that was irritating about the show was the high-pitched screaming and screeching. But that really can’t be helped when you have attractive, well-loved people on a stage. I did not scream, and thankfully the girl sitting next to me didn’t either, but I believe I cried about 600 times instead.

The show was a phenomenal mix of scripted and non-scripted, familiar and unfamiliar, Dan and Phil. They each had their own parts of the show, and their interactions and banter made it feel like they were just collaborating on a video.

I would recommend the show to any Dan and Phil fan. It’s appropriate for all ages - Dan doesn’t swear profusely, and the humor is enjoyable for parents. There is no point where you would get bored; it’s a fast-paced, but rather lengthy, show. The content is reminiscent of their videos, but even if you’re new to the fandom, you would still find it entertaining. I’m no critic, but I would give the show five stars out of five.

So, to any Dan and Phil fans in the US that haven’t gone to The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire, there is still time to go and see them! Check out the tour website, danandphiltour.com, for locations and tickets. Some shows are sold out, but there is still hope for you!
