Phishing &
What is it?
Thieves often times try to present themselves as a trustworthy friend, person, business, charity, or one of many other entities. They do this by sending emails that make a claim of trustworthiness (this is the bait). They send these emails to massive numbers of individuals in the hopes that someone will believe their claim of trustworthiness (this is like going fishing). When someone responds and releases the requested information, they have fallen for the scam (they are the fish). These types of scams have greatly increased in complexity over the years. Thieves go as far as to replicate the websites of banks and other companies in an effort to produce trustworthiness. Please watch the video below for a more detailed description of Phishing.
