Spyware is small software program which collects information about users without their knowledge. This information is then used in a variety of ways by business and criminals. This type of software usually runs in the background of a computer and is hidden from the user.
Malware, sometimes called malicious software, is a type of small program that is designed to disrupt or deny operations of a computer, gain unauthorized access to system resources, and or gather information. Spyware is a type of Malware. However, many other types of hostile and intrusive programs fall under this category.
Trojans are programs which impersonate another program. Typically, the Trojan appears to be a normal or desires piece of software. However, these programs steal information or do harm to a computer. Trojans can be very destructive.
