for yourself? We all come into this world at
different degrees of completeness, and our
choices and opinions can help connect or
disconnect us from our fullest potentials. In
the modern world, we see new connections
or disconnections forming through
technology and knowledge every day.
At the 3rd annual TEDxEdUHK event,
invited speakers shared stories surrounding
the
theme
(DIS)CONNECTED,
about how they have experienced
connections and disconnections in
their own lives, imparting wisdom
and advice to the captivated audience.
buzzing with excitement, the venue was
packed! The diverse audience of EdUHK
students, staff, friends, family, and external
guests all waited for the event to begin.
At two P.M., audience seated, speakers
ready, the two MCs Dilan and Gabriel
commenced the proceedings. After
welcoming us and familiarising us with the
TEDx platform, they began to introduce
the speakers. Today, we would hear from
seven speakers, ranging from students
to professors to working professionals,
all ready to share their experiences with
us. The audience sat anticipating and
excited, absorbing the words of the
speakers and the lessons they had to teach.
And learn we did, of our connections with
ourselves, with other people, and with our
environment. The first speaker, from our
very own university, was undergraduate
student Lovepreet Kaur, who shared her talk
about “The Numbing Effect of Technology”.

April 2019, as the Organising Committee
(comprised of the International Tutors,
supporting staff and student helpers) came
together to actualise their hard work into a
successful event. Student helpers near the
entrances checked tickets and handed out
program leaflets, escorting people to their
