Minimum IELTS of 6.0 (with a minimum sub-test
of 5.5) or equivalent for all courses except for
Law which requires 6.5 and Health courses which
require 7.0 (with a minimum sub-test of 6.5/7.0).

Foundation Courses
For students requiring a Foundation programme
prior to undertaking an undergraduate degree
course there are a number of options available.
UK/EU Students
The General Foundation Year: this is a standalone course which can be studied full-time
over one year, part-time over two years or
as bite-size packages. Students can apply
for a place on any Keele degree course except
Medicine, Physiotherapy and Social Work.
International Students
International Degree Programme (IDP):
This is a four year honours degree programme
and a single visa is required for the full course.
You will need an IELTS Score of 5.5 (with
a minimum score of 5.5 in each subtest).
Students who successfully complete the
International Degree Programme will be
able to progress directly to a bachelor degree
course at Keele, except Health related courses
or Social Work. Applicants interested in Medicine,
Pharmacy, Physiotherapy or Adult Nursing,
should apply for the Health Foundation Year.
International Foundation Year (IFY):
This is a one year course leading towards entry
into a three year degree programme (1+3
programme). You will need an IELTS Score of 5.0
(with a minimum score of 5.0 in each subtest);
the IELTS test taken must be an IELTS for
UKVI – SELT (Secure English Language Test).
Students who successfully complete the IFY
will be able to enrol on a bachelor degree course
at Keele, in the following year, in any subject
except Health related courses or Social Work.

Subject specific, integrated Foundation Courses
Keele offers specialised Foundations in Health,
Science, Social Science and Humanities which
each provide subject knowledge customised
to students’ needs, helping students to
progress to the subsequent years of a
degree programme at Keele.
