Thirty miles south of Riverton is Lander. Lander boasts world-class outdoor recreation opportunities including: internationally known climbing in Sinks Canyon State Park, trout fishing, hiking, Nordic skiing, camping, and snowmobiling.

Recreation opportunities include hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, world class skiing and snowboarding and dude ranches. The region is home to a suffcient amount of wildlife including elk, deer, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears, and moose. The area provides invaluable research opportunities for our outdoor education and GIST programs.

If you're looking for a day of relaxation, hit up Thermopolis, the world's largest mineral hot springs. Thermopolis is 54 miles north of Riverton and is also home to the Wyoming Dinosaur Center and the Legend Rock Petroglyphs.
