MINEXPO PREVIEW
most demanding conditions . Visitors at MINExpo can learn about the capabilities of McLanahan ’ s feeding equipment and how it can be integrated into their operations for improved results .
McLanahan ’ s latest innovations in water and tailings management , including an innovative new filter press , will be prominently displayed .
Germany-based STEINERT will be highlighting how sensor-based sorting technology can make mining profitable in line with ESG principles at MINExpo .
This technology enables valuable commodities in raw material to be cost-effectively enriched , taking the strain off downstream process stages , STEINERT explains . Pre-concentrated ore reduces mine-to-plant transport , as well as process water and energy consumption .
By combining up to four sensors , STEINERT ’ s sorting systems maximise precision , the company says . These technologies greatly reduce operating costs , increase the value of the output material and are environmentally friendly .
“ Sorting technology delivers a multitude of benefits in mining ,” STEINERT says . “ Unlike wet processing , water does not have to be stored or treated . This also eliminates the need for tailings .”
The company has produced a multi-sensor response to the increasingly complex requirements of sorting depth , energy efficiency and environmental compatibility . The software for the sorting algorithm can also be continually adapted to new requirements as they emerge .
The sorting system for dry density separation STEINERT KSS | XT CLI analyses the material to be sorted with X-ray Transmission . The system can be equipped with additional sensors depending on requirements . Optical sensors record surface characteristics and colour information , and an inductive sensor detects metals and various conductive minerals . This system is ideally suited to processing gold , nonferrous metal and iron ores , or various industrial minerals such as phosphate , STEINERT says .
Another alternative is the STEINERT KSS | NR CLI with near-infrared detection as the main sensor . This is suited to sorting industrial minerals such as dolomite , spodumene , fluorite , limestone , quartz and more .
Eriez , a global leader in separation technologies , will introduce new feeding and metal detection equipment at this year ’ s MINExpo .
Including in the list of new reveals is a metal detector designed for fixed-site quarries and mobile crushing plants . This detector uses optimised detection algorithms to reliably detect damaging iron and manganese steel , providing superior protection for crushers , screens and conveyor belts .
Eriez is also debuting a high capacity electromagnetic vibratory feeder , which , it says , offers nearly 70 % greater capacity than the previous model , significantly enhancing material handling efficiency .
Lastly , new suspended electromagnets will be showcased . These provide tramp metal collection from conveyed materials , with Eriez offering both manual-clean and self-clean models .
Ten subject matter experts will be on the company ’ s booth to discuss its offering – from magnetic separation to flotation .
Mobile / production support equipment
Social media channels will be full of ‘ in the iron ’ shots during MINExpo week with the biggest mobile equipment makers on earth bringing some of their largest and newest machines .
Caterpillar says its MINExpo 2024 experience will immerse visitors into the mine site of the future ; featuring industry-leading technologies , groundbreaking advancements in the energy transition and first-of-a-kind customised solutions designed to increase customers ’ efficiency , safety and profitability .
This experience will leverage the company ’ s proven results in autonomy and automation and its demonstrated progress in greenhouse gas reduction technologies , the company added .
The 372 t Cat ® 798 AC mining truck will be the big highlight on the stand . This truck has the highest standard payload in its class and is configured for autonomous haulage with Cat MineStar™ Command for hauling .
Marc Cameron , Senior Vice President , Caterpillar Resource Industries , says systems such as Command for hauling are essential to optimise mine site performance , both with the company ’ s current product line and as it introduces new offerings like its battery-electric solutions . “ Autonomous technology will help monitor and orchestrate the complex balance of on-board energy , available charging assets and production targets to achieve the lowest operating costs ,” he added .

will also feature . This machine comes with battery-electric propulsion that produces zero exhaust emissions and generates less heat than a reciprocating engine powered model . It has been tested and operated at Glencore ’ s Nickel Rim South mine and Newmont ’ s Borden mine , both in Canada .
The Cat R2900 XE diesel-electric LHD , meanwhile , provides a high efficiency switch reluctance electric drive system that meets the mining industry ’ s needs for bigger payloads , faster loading and lower emissions , Caterpillar says . The machine on display will also be fitted with Cat MineStar Command for underground , which enables remote machine operation , and MineStar Detect for underground to safeguard against unintended interactions between personnel and assets and enhance operator alertness .
The 12.2-m-long PGS 1260 HD Energy Storage System ( ESS ) module offers energy storage for charging battery-electric machines , and the MEC500 provides mobile equipment charging for the underground mining industry .
Brian Weller , Vice President of Electrification , Caterpillar Resource Industries , said : “ Since MINExpo 2021 , our teams have made incredible progress with the development of our electric technology and supporting solutions . We have been working side-by-side with select customers to accelerate the deployment of Caterpillar ’ s first battery-electric haul trucks . These machines will soon be operating at our customers ’ sites where they will be tested and validated across a variety of applications .”
The Cat 24 motor grader on show will represent the range of haul road maintenance machines that includes the 14 , 16 and 18 models , while the largest of the Cat drill rig offering , the MD6310 rotary drill , will be showcased .
In addition to these machines , modules and
