THE CLIENT WHO TOOK CONTROL WORDS: REBEKAH FENSOME T ina, 29, a Management Consultant from Manchester, has come a long way since we first met 8 months ago. Amongst other issues she wanted to talk about, one of the key things was the relationship with her parents. She had always felt that they were unsupportive of her and that no matter what she did it was never good enough. “I got great grades, an amazing job straight out of University; I own a home and have a loving partner. I don’t understand why I’m so caught up in what they think. It would just be so good to hear them say that they are proud of me for once.” As a result of this Tina explained how she had now put distance between herself and her parents and felt like she was trying to escape them and the way they made her feel. She told me whenever she spoke to her mother on the phone that she would fall back into her role as an underachiever. “Whenever she calls I just dread it! She makes me feel like I’m not good enough. I know she loves me and is proud of what I’ve achieved but I can’t get rid of the sense that I’m just not good enough in her eyes.” www.internationallifestylemagazine.com
