What makes a legend of golf? Miguel Ángel Jiménez It’s definitely not something that happens overnight! Trying to reach legendary heights in golf is tough and takes years of perfecting. You need to have that something about you that people will remember when you finish playing. It may be a playful, humorous personality or, alternatively, it could be a fiery temper or a colourful dress sense. You need that added something to just winning majors. Eighteen majors is something that is unheard of and that’s why he’s right up there and everyone wants to replicate his achievements. Y.E. Yang To become a legend in golf you definitely have to win at least a few majors in your career. Most golfing legends today have won majors but they are also great personalities who have earned the respect of others both on and off the course. How would you like your legend to be remembered? Miguel Ángel Jiménez I would definitely like to be known as a strong man who fell in love with the beautiful game of golf. I have been a professional golfer for over 25 years and have managed to make the game a way of life rather than just a job. Journalists have often portrayed me as one of golf ’s true characters, but it’s just me being myself. I am a man who likes to be happy and enjoy life. Hopefully the way I approach both the game and life inspires others to adopt a similar stance. Louis Oosthuizen I would love to try and win more majors and hopefully reach the number one spot in the world before I finish with golf. I’ve still got a few spots to go and it’s going to be difficult with guys like Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods in front of you but I feel it can be done.
