I never foresaw that I would be serving alongside some of the most amazing leaders I’ve ever met, but it doesn’t take
anything more than passion, a few sleepless nights, and believing in yourself to get where you want to be. Because hey, I
was in your shoes. I saw people doing amazing things and I didn’t think I could keep up with the big kids but, honestly, the
only thing stopping you is yourself. Which brings me to:
Lesson #3: Put everything you have into the next four years and never look back.
There are going to be ups and downs; you’re going to lose a board position, piss off your friends, and make
plenty of mistakes. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that a bunch of kids can make a difference and your
accomplishments will make those bumps and scratches worthwhile.
It’s a well-known, overstated fact that you only have four and a half years in this wonderful organization, but every
Aleph and BBG should leave without a single regret. I took that statement to heart and it had a major impact on
the person I am as I’m saying my farewells to BBYO. In these four years, I have experienced my happiest and
saddest moments; I’ve felt lost and found and lost again, met my best friends and had some of the most
transformative experiences of my life. To those of you with more time left, embrace every opportunity and do the
best damn job you can possibly do because, trust me, it’s worth it.
