International Journal of Open Educational Resources • Vol. 2, No. 1 • Fall 2019 / Winter 2020 Taking OER Abroad with Library-Led Partnerships Lindsey Wharton, Devin Soper Florida State University, FL Abstract Partnerships are key to strengthening open and affordability initiatives on campus, allowing for strategic collaboration and the alignment of department goals to promote open educational resources (OER) in the classroom. This paper focuses on our libraries’ partnership with our International Programs (IP) division to promote open course materials and the open movement at our international study centers and study abroad sites through a specialized alternative textbook grant (ATG) program and targeted outreach for instructors teaching in global environments. An overview of the partnership between the Florida State University Libraries and our IP department is detailed and guidance is provided for other academic libraries and/or open and affordable initiative teams in developing globally focused open programs.
