Overseas recognition of the Keele
degree in professional subjects such
as Medicine, Law and Pharmacy will
vary by country and in some cases
you may need to take local licensing
exams before you can practice. Get
in touch with us and we can advise
you on whether the degree subject is
recognised in your home country.

English language entry
requirements
English language is understandably
an important part of studying at
Keele. If your first language is not
from a recognised English language
speaking country then we will ask
you to provide evidence of your
English language skills as part of
your offer to study at Keele.
In addition to IGCSEs, O Levels,
International Baccalaureate and
IELTS, Keele accepts a number of
country specific English language
qualifications as evidence of
your ability for direct entry to
undergraduate courses. You will
usually need IELTS 6.0-7.0 or
equivalent depending on your
chosen course. Country specific
English qualifications currently
accepted if achieved within the
last 2 years are*:
• Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary
Education (HKDSE) with 4 or
above
• Malaysian O level SP 1119
with a C or above
• CBSE and ICSE English
with 75% or higher
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary
Education (KCSE) with a C+
or above
• Uganda Certificate of Education
with a 3 or higher
• West African Senior School
Certificate (WAEC) with English
at C6 or above
• Nigerian Examinations Council
(NECO) with English at C6
or above
