ENRICH YOUR UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE Keele has agreements with over 80 universities across North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia enabling students to globalise their degree. Developing cultural awareness, enhancing communication skills, becoming more independent, increasing employability, meeting new people and being taught your subject from a different perspective are just some of the advantages to studying abroad mid-degree. There are plenty of different opportunities to globalise your degree including: • The International Year: Spend a year studying at a partner university experiencing life in another culture. You can even split the year in half and spend time in two locations. The International Year is usually taken between the second and third year of your degree and is not credit bearing which means you can study some relevant modules from outside your core discipline. • Semester Abroad: Take one semester of modules at an approved partner during the second year of your degree. • Language Schools: If you learn a language alongside your degree you can attend a language summer school in a country that speaks the same language to build confidence and fluency and to put your new skills to the test. • Research Programme: Students in Life Sciences are offered the opportunity to spend 3 months in Malaysia conducting research alongside academic staff at Universiti Sains Malaysia. • Study Tour: Some courses offer an overseas study tour guided by an academic in conjunction with a partner university.
