F rog and I
by T. Jenese Thompson
I craved Bali
mangosteen and turtle,
a cacao soaked dish holding
east bali cashews and coconut
milk cartons of rainforest
Robert’s post card stamp complemented
a rambutan
It read, “Darling your earlobe is perfect.”
Suckled and mistaken as a ladybug
I spotted a frog tipsy of
red dragonflies and moth,
two bush crickets and the
enigmatic sound of cicada
nymphs drenched in rainforest
