STUDY IN
TAIWAN
A Life Changing Opportunity
by Sophie H. Y. Chou
In an effort to introduce its education to
the world and embrace
the diversity of this global village, the Ministry of Education
(MOE) of the Republic of China
(Taiwan) launched a campaign to promote higher education in Taiwan with the
slogan “STUDY IN TAIWAN”. To achieve
its mission goals, the Taiwan MOE established
eight Taiwan Education Centers in India, Thailand,
Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Mongolia, Japan and
the US. “Taiwan Education Center U.S.A.” received
permits to operate as a NGO/PO (nongovernmental/
people’s organization) in the United States in 2012. The
same year, the Center held its first Taiwan Education
Fair US in California and subsequent fairs
were held in different cities
each year in the US.
In 2015 the Education Division of
the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Houston, representing the
Taiwan MOE, sought to promote the educational relationship between Taiwan and the US
by co-organizing the Taiwan Education Fair US.
Eleven top universities from Taiwan were featured,
including (by alphabetical order): China Medical University, Chung Shan Medical University, Kaohsiung
Medical University, Ming Chuan University, National
Cheng Kung University, National Chiao Tung UniiF Magazine | www.iFMagazine.net
