United Nations Day Gala 2019
On October 22, 2019 iF Magazine was seen on scene of the Houston Chapter
of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-
USA) celebrating the United Nations’ 74th anniversary on October 24, 2019.
The event was held at the Junior League of Houston. The keynote speaker
was internationally acclaimed British filmmaker Leslee Udwin, founder and
CEO of Think Equal. Among the honorees were: Paula Harris of Schlum-
berger Corporation, and Attorney Harry Gee. Every year in October, the
United Nations Association and its national network of more than 200 chap-
ters, including the Houston Chapter, honor UN Day to commemorate the
ratification of the UN Charter, and celebrate the Organization’s achievements
over the last seven decades. This year’s UN Day theme was “Our Planet. Our
Future.” to recognize the UN’s declaration that the climate crisis is the defin-
ing issue of our time. The UN is dedicated to working with global leaders and
civil society to develop solutions to combat the looming climate crisis — and
work toward a more sustainable future.
