PRO GuIDe Hands-free urban intercoms Mostly associated with hard luggage for OEMs and the aftermarket, Spanish manufacturer NAD S.A. has two updated models of hands-free intercoms in its SHAD brand that are aimed at the urban communication market. Using the latest available generation of Bluetooth technology, the new UC helmet kits are said to "improve functionality, sound quality, connectivity and voice command" and to be "compatible with, but 25% smaller and lighter, than their previous BC versions of hands-free intercoms". With added intercommunication function between Bluetooth devices, the design is said to be "better fitting in helmets, while being more discrete with a smaller profile and updated look". It is made in a high-quality fibreglass shell with additional patented technologies, including one-hand sequential unlocking and reversible silicon lip seal. It features passive and active defog and what Roof describes as "Silent Lining Comfort with a fast-drying antibacterial treated fabric, adjustable and removable washable cheekpads and adjustable skullcap, 4-point chinstrap for increased stability and a design that preserves the aerodynamics when riding in the jet position". There are top air vents and it weighs 1,600 g - "the quality of the fibreglass allows lightness, strength and a high-quality finish", according to Roof. The "smart chinbar mechanism, with proven efficiency, also features safe one-handed opening by two sequential pressures on the unlocking buttons. The patented seal with a long silicon reversible lip ensures perfect visor sealing against airflow and water, making it ideal for use in all weather conditions". 44 SC1-M for Ducati Hypermotard 950 Developed from the popular SC1-R muffler, this new SC1-M is specifically calibrated for use with mid-range, medium displacement motorcycles ('middleweights') and is seen here for the Ducati Hypermotard 950. The body of the muffler is made in high- grade, high-strength, lightweight titanium in natural titanium finish, with a carbon endcap equipped with DB-killer and mounting system in lightweight, high- strength titanium. SC1-M mufflers are also available in a full carbon version. The mufflers are Euro 4 homologated for this bike model. Additional "middleweight" applications will be added to the range in the coming months, with titanium and carbon versions available, subject to model.
