Titanium ADV Top Cases- longer lasting and 40 % lighter
Italian exhaust manufacturer GPR successfully leveraged its manufacturing expertise with a move into the ADV Luggage sector two years ago, with a program has been well accepted by importers and their dealers- one that has grown quickly. The news at EICMA was of the addition to their GPR Tech luggage designs of what they believe is a world first- the use of high strength, lightweight ASTM Grade 1 titanium in the manufacture of ADV top case
body panels, handles and mounts- a material that GPR has 20-years of experience with. Riders need their ADV luggage to have the greatest possible strength and the lightest possible weight. " Titanium has been an ideal material for ADV cases, but one which has proven just too difficult to work with for most of the factories producing ADV luggage," says co-owner Mauro Orlandi.
44 INTERNATIONAL DEALER NEWS- MAY / JUNE 2025
" Our expertise in working with titanium in exhausts system construction is experience that others just do not have so this has given GPR the opportunity to present a truly unique worldwide first- the first Top Case for motorcycles made with body, handles and supports in grades 1 ASTM titanium. " In the past no one has ever aspired to use titanium as a raw material in the production of motorcycle cases the most noble of metals, but the weight savings and maximisation of mechanical resistance mean they pay for themselves many times during the extended life and security they provide. " Compared to a conventional aluminium case, the weight savings are close to 40 % so that, equipped with our handle design, they are easier to carry from the bike, in add addition to the improved strength and durability. For these luxury versions the locks have also been customised and new moulds have been created for the hard plastic parts. " As with the entire GPR Tech luggage range, there is a beautiful internal lining to protect helmets or items transported and the product is completely waterproof." The 35 and 55-litre versions are already available, in natural titanium colour, and can be purchased with model specific plates and luggage racks for most of the best-selling ADV platforms.
