DAB 1α : 400-unit inaugural production model .......................................... 12
Majority owned since last year by Peugeot Motocycles , the Bayonne , France based manufacturer has unveiled a production protype DAB 1α electric motorcycle with plans for an initial limited production run of 400 units . Founded in 2018 by CEO Simon Dabadie , the design was first seen as a Red Dot award-winning pre-production protype - the Concept E - four years ago .

Yamaha and Honda might have been fierce rivals for 70 years , but in the latest trend towards ' Big 4 ' partnerships , Honda is to supply Yamaha with complete Honda Benly e : 1 and EM1 e : scooters as an OEM - building on collaborations such as the HySE and Swappable Battery consortiums .

It would appear that none of Europe ' s ' Majors ' have fared worse so far this year than Piaggio , with a 21 % decline in motorcycle and scooter unit sales for the first half of 2024 ( 211,200 units from 267,400 in 2023 ). The Group is still much healthier than has been the case at times in the past 20 years , but the decline should alarm all of Europe ' s manufacturers .

The world ' s first high-performance motorcycle with a combustion engine fuelled by hydrogen was demonstrated in advance of the Suzuka 8-Hour endurance race in July when Kawasaki allowed its prototype supercharged machine to lap the circuit .
