BMW Motorrad delivered 42,592 motorcycles and scooters to customers worldwide in the first three months of 2021 ; at + 22.5 %, that was its bestever sales result for a first quarter . " This sales growth underpins BMW Motorrad ' s successful growth strategy . Its strong product offering with a variety of different models and the market launch of various new products , both provide key elements for the continued success of BMW Motorrad ".
Profit from BMW ' s motorcycle division grew by a massive 87.5 % for the first quarter ( up to € 135m from € 72m ) as the company lapped the pandemicinduced collapse in sales seen throughout the motorcycle industry in Q1 of 2020 . Gross profit from motorcycle activities was € 188m ( up from € 129m for Q1 of 2020 ) on revenues of € 753m ( up from € 557m in Q1 of 2021 ). Cost of sales was down by € -565m from the € -428m reduction seen in Q1 of 2020 .
This is " Spirit of Passion " by Dirk Oehlerking ( Kingston Custom , Gelsenkirchen ), one of the internationally recognised custom bike builders chosen by BMW Motorrad for its " Soul Fuel " series of R18 custom build interpretations . heavily by 15,000 units to 58,000 , with Australia up by 4,000 to 11,000 units . In emerging markets , unit sales were down heavily at 226,000 units ( -111,000 ).
Kawasaki has had a good year ! The company reported net sales revenue for its motorcycle and engine division down by just -0.3 % ( at 336.6bn yen ) for its full year to March 31st , 2021 . The company says it saw a decrease in motorcycle sales for Southeast Asia and an increase in off-road vehicle sales in North America . Motorcycle sales revenue was 115.2bn yen for developed markets ; 67.4bn yen for emerging markets , with 101.4bn yen for ATV , UTV and PWC etc ., and 53.5bn yen for general purpose engine sales .
