Cardo Systems founder and coowner Dr . Abraham Glezerman and his existing investor , Israeli tech investor Fortissimo Capital , have sold the Tel Aviv business to London based EMK Capital .
Modena based electric sport bike manufacturer Energica says its sales increased 91 % in 2020 . Additionally , the company has a new strategic partner in the shape of NASDAQ listed e-mobility investment specialist Ideanomics , who has provided some € 15m to fund the next stages of product development and growth .
The biennial Tokyo Motor Show has been cancelled for the first time in its 67-year history . First staged in 1954 , it drew 1.3m visitors in 2019 and had been due to be staged again in October this year . Japan is facing a surge in COVID-19 cases , driven by more infectious variants of the virus , and was expected to declare a state of emergency for Tokyo , Osaka and two other prefectures from 25 April to 11 May .
In contrast , April saw the world ' s first major global car exhibition go ahead since the start of the pandemic . Auto Shanghai 2021 , the biggest motor show in China , was open to the public but with attendees having to take COVID-19 tests to gain entry . Described as a " Petri dish for Electric Vehicles ", the show is a bellwether for the change of direction the car industry and its shows are taking . Some 1.3m EVs were sold in China in 2020 - around 40 % of the global market .
BS Battery and Sherco forge new partnership
French battery manufacturer BS Battery has announced a new partnership with French motorcycle manufacturer Sherco . BS Battery is now to be the official supplier for all Sherco motorcycles , which further reinforces the strong position that BS Battery already has as an OEM battery-of-choice . In additional news , BS and Sherco have agreed on a three-year sponsorship contract that will see BS supporting Sherco in all its racing activities . Benjamin Sebban , General Manager of BS Battery , said : " We are very happy about this French / French partnership - we were looking to find a foothold in the off-road sector for some time and collaboration with Sherco is a great opportunity for us . BS is now present in MotoGP , WorldSSP and Off-Road race categories . This collaboration will enable us to develop and strengthen our products as Sherco will be using them in competition ." Located in France ( Nîmes ) and once known purely for its leading trials bike designs , Sherco Motorcycles has also been designing and manufacturing a wide range of different types of offroad capable machines - such as Enduro , Supermotard , leisure and 50 cc models - since 1998 . Sherco is currently the " fastest growing off-road motorcycle
company " in the market , exporting to over 75 countries . Approved by the Sherco engineering teams , BS products have been validated for performance , technology and safety . As original parts , its lithium BSLi-02 battery will now be standard equipment on several Sherco models , including its popular Enduro machines . BS Battery will also be an official partner of the Sherco Factory Team until 2024 - attending to many international championships such as EnduroGP , Extreme Enduro , Rally-raid and X-trial and TrialGP .
