Living and Studying in Perth Perth is one of the fastest growing cities in Australia. We enjoy a sunny Mediterranean style climate with an average of eight hours of sunshine each day. With an abundance of beautiful white beaches, parks, galleries, shopping centres, attractions, wineries, restaurants and cultural precincts, there is plenty to do and see. Guildford Grammar School is located in the beautiful, leafy suburb of Guildford, the gateway to the Swan Valley, just 12 kilometres from the City of Perth. Guildford has a small town feel, with many historic and architecturally significant buildings. The main street hosts a great variety of quaint antique stores, cafes and restaurants. Studying in Perth In Western Australia students start their education at the age of four when they enter Kindergarten and finish their education in Year 12 when they are around 18 years of age. The school year commences in late January and concludes in early December. We have four school terms, with two or three week breaks between terms. In July we have a three week break, which provides an ideal opportunity for international students to return home. The end of year break, from December to January, is around eight weeks.
