SME entrepreneurs are playing a key role in building a strong foundation for the country. They are also important for the distribution of income from the business sector to the grassroots (people) sector. The government is particularly important for supporting entrepreneurs’ competitiveness and preparedness for regional competition. One of the key projects supported by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, is the SME Pro Active Project. It was our honour to interview Khun Paiyada Hanchaisuksakul, Director of the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprise Industry (SMI) from the Federation of Thai Industry, to share with us the success of the projects and their support for phase 2 of the program. markets which will enable them to employ the expertise of developing products or services. Another benefit will be their familiarity with the commercial business network and finally, business negotiations. The feedback from participating entrepreneurs in SME Pro Active Phase 1 from 2013 to 2015 was delivered to the public sector and private networks composed of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, The Federation of Thai Industries, The Shippers’ Council of Thailand, Thai Bankers and related associations. The project received 821 applications via the SMI Institute and joined the exhibition along and took part in business matching among 245 activities.
