Reconfigure the space to allow for a new rear tee at a maximum setup distance
Extend the available tee space down the length of play and center to the new alignment of the hole
Use the lost space to the right of the hole to host an access path along the boundary of the property
Reconstitute the Ross design intent of this dogleg par 4 with a shift to the line of play that takes advantage of the open ground - set the bunkers at offset angles and add hummocks to enhance the setting and strategy - add subsurface drainage to firm the playing surface
Eliminate the path that bisects the property and restore mounding
Shift the green away from the boundary and recreate the inspired thumbprint design of the original Ross green

Left : In shifting the green , make sure the putting surface reflects the thumbprint nature of the original Ross vision .
C
Below : Hummocks ! Here are some original rugged mounds left of the 8th approach . These bumps offer a range of recovery shots and provide a different kind of “ hazard .”
