Prithvi, the best skater in school,
was selected to represent his
school in the inter-school skating
competition. He was very excited,
but also knew that another
school had a national level skater,
Anant.
The True
champion
‘I can not beat him, he is the fastest,’ he always thought. Then, one day, his coach
told him about Anant’s accident where he had twisted his ankle and would not
be able to compete.
‘Hurray!’ Now, Prithvi was DPOGJEFOU of his gold and took his place in the starting
line-up. He whooshed off from the start, way ahead of the rest. But just as he was
making his last turn, he stumbled on a stray pebble and fell down. He quickly got
up and raced to the finish line, but, alas, he could only manage to win the bronze
medal.
Prithvi was very sad. He thought it had been his one chance to win the gold medal.
His coach and his mother sat down with him.
'Prithvi,' they said, 'it
was an accident. It was
not your fault.'
'But it was my one
chance to win a gold
medal,' said Prithvi.
'Son,' said his coach, 'at
times, in life, small
things, like a pebble, can
make us fall down. But,
