EDITOR’S NOTE
W
elcome to Issue 09 of
Intelligent Tech Channels.
A dearth of the right skills is
one of the major challenges we face when
it comes to new technologies and, in fact,
Cisco predicts that approximately 220,000
new engineers will be needed globally
every year for the next 10 years to keep
pace with the technological surge of the
Internet of Everything (IoE).
With professionals skilled in the
areas of IT security, IoT, mobility, cloud,
virtualisation, software-defined networking
and software-defined datacentres currently
in great demand, in this issue, we talk to
leading executives about their channel
training programmes, and the primary
drivers and inhibitors.
With the risk of accidental deletion,
data corruption, cybercriminal attacks and
malicious users, protecting critical data has
never been more important, so this month
we feature backup and recovery, and talk
to industry experts about how the channel
can maximise the opportunities available.
Our regional channels this month
focuses on South Africa and three
companies who discuss making the
Epicor cloud available to South African
businesses; how to keep pace with vendor
partners and requirements of regional
channel partners; and how they’re bringing
latest infrastructure platform solutions to
South African enterprises.
We bring you all your favourite
intelligent features, covering cabling, cloud,
datacentres, enterprise security, green
technology, mobile technology and software
business; and our Editor’s Question
this month revolves around training the
channel, with contributions from Microsoft,
Infoblox, Siemon and RedSeal.
In our Expert Speak section, Aruba, a
Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, asks
whether you ever think about the need to
secure IoT.
We have the usual industry
appointments and market movement,
and our two channel chiefs this month
are Hozefa Saylawala, Director of Sales
Middle East at Zebra Technologies, and
Shahnawaz Sheikh, Sales and Channel
Director META and Eastern Europe at
SonicWall. Finally, F5 Networks expands
upon the rise of cognitive apps that are
driving smarter decision-making.
We always enjoy hearing from you so if
you would like to get in touch please send
an email to [email protected].
Enjoy the read!
