Catching the vibe of GITEX Global 2022
Ricky Cooper visited the UAE and attended GITEX Global 2022 , the Middle East ’ s leading technology exhibition , in October . Cooper said that the show , which saw 5,000 plus exhibitors and thousands of visitors converge on Dubai World Trade Centre , demonstrated the huge growth and potential VMware sees in the region . “ You really get a sense of how dynamic the region is from visiting GITEX ,” Cooper told Intelligent Tech Channels at VMware ’ s booth .
Cooper added that he had seen some amazing technology at the show , including smart traffic systems and an amazing Edge solution that allows drones to study traffic on the roads .
GITEX also proved to be a great venue to meet new channel partners and prospects . Cooper said that the channel team was being approached by more partners than ever before during the show , reflecting a growing interest in the company . “ Everyone is excited about the future of VMware ; there is a buzz about the company . It ’ s very important to be present here and to show how serious we are about the region ,” he said .
Cooper added that one of the most important aspects of his visit was to meet with colleagues , partners and customers , and to hear their experiences and views . “ The main thing is to listen and learn . If you truly listen you can really come away with some great insights and ideas ,” he said .

As the captain of the Wales polo team , what lessons do you bring from the game to the world of work ?
It ’ s an interesting one . My role as captain of the Wales polo team involves a lot of dedication and hard work . It ’ s not easy riding a half ton horse around a field at speed ! King Charles III is the patron of our team and this relationship with the head of state has opened up some great opportunities to do charity work and to consider the needs of other people in the community , and it is extremely rewarding to see the impact of that . I see a strong parallel between that and the world of IT partnerships , because the ability to empathize is at the heart of all our partnerships at VMware . It ’ s not just about VMware , it is about what we can learn from our partners , and how we can help them to be successful . It ’ s always good to hear how VMware has had a positive impact on our partners , and of course our customers . •
