When you look back at your career , what has been the most memorable achievement ?
Stepping out of my comfort zone , ushering
into the ICT world , facing gruelling interviews coming from a non-ICT background and finally working with Hewlett Packard as my first IT multinational company in the year 1999 was the first real milestone of my career . This is surely an achievement to be cherished .
What made you think of a career in technology ?
The IT industry is truly one of the most versatile and dynamic career fields , and the ever-evolving nature of this industry is what excites and motivates me the most . Technology has become a huge part of everyday life . We do everything through technology . As an IT professional , if I want to be effective , I must ensure that I learn it myself and then leverage the experience with my partners and customers to maximise their potential . All through my IT career of over 27 years I have experienced transformation at an amazingly fast pace which keeps the momentum to learn and achieve each day ever growing .
What do you think will be the hot technology talking point of 2022 ?
As the world slowly but steadily comes out from a firm grip of the pandemic , we can certainly expect that 2022 will see rapid progress in multiple technologies – computing power , smarter devices , quantum computing , extended reality , Artificial Intelligence , Machine Learning , and 3D printing , to name a few . Smart start-ups , corporations , and conglomerates will grab the opportunities to capitalise on these emerging trends .
What are your personal interests and where do you like to spend most of your time after work ?
“ If you believe that the most important thing is to be happy in life , ( not when I ’ m a millionaire or when I retire , but right now ) then you can always make time .”
The UAE has a large expat and local population which helps you gain insight into diverse cultures . In my leisure time I love listening to retro music , get on with my Pilates practice , long walks , yoga , and meditation , take care of my home , meet friends and travel all over the globe . And then come back with thrill , fun , excitement , and renewed energy to start all over again . •
