“ We are not vertical specific in the channel , as all verticals and industries have a need for back up in the data centre , whether it is a small office of 10 people with a rack in the corner , or a medium business with a data centre on premises ,” he said .
At the moment , the company is ramping up its channel activities offered under the umbrella Vertiv Partner Programme in South Africa . “ I am not aware of any specific channel partners as yet , although in the meetings I have had with potential partners , the programme was very well received ,” he said .
Training and certifications are also on the vendor ’ s agenda and partners will have to undergo some training in order to retain a partner tier under the Vertiv Partner Programme .
Moss said this will depend on the amount of value a partner wants to add to their end-user base . “ Ideally a partner should be certified and trained to be able to facilitate a discussion around back up , and be able to identify which product would be best recommended for the clients ’ requirement ,” he said .
As for the solutions and technologies Vertiv prioritising for the South Africa channel market and why , Moss said UPS and PDUs are top of the agenda . “ The UPS range is due to the amount of loadshedding and power disruptions we have in South Africa .
