ENTERPRISE TECHNOLOGY incorporate the company ’ s existing core competencies and strengths .
What in your view is the main reason so many Digital Transformation attempts fail ?
Before any transformation starts , the decision-makers need to understand that there is indeed a clear requirement for the business to get on a Digital Transformation journey . It is imperative to include all lines of business in this discussion , it is no longer an IT strategy and input from departments like HR for example , who have never been considered before , have valuable insights that could change the needs of the company and redefine the transformation requirements . This brings about the most significant challenge , a transformation in the company culture . For me , cultural and behavioural challenges are among the main reasons for a hinderance in achieving digital goals . The change requires significant structural and process / system changes , and several traditional businesses hold on to a strong and maybe an outdated company culture and may oppose change and accepting new workflow structures . The resistance can be from weary managers or long-term employees , for a company to successfully transform , full corporate buy-in is crucial and once that is achieved and aligned with the overall strategy there are far fewer chances of the transformation attempt failing .
Do digital businesses take a fundamentally faster approach to building – and improving as necessary – their operational backbone , their mission critical systems , etc ?
One of the major benefits of the intelligent Edge is agility . In my view , a “ digital business ” needs to have a system in place that can gather data and turn it into insights that are tangible and relevant , so that a business can continuously change how they work or review things in real-time .
