INTELLIGENT CABLING
Different areas where contact is made and released .
Some vendors have succeeded in maximising the sliding zone for RJ45 module and plug through shaping of module contacts . contact point between the A and B contacts moves along the surface of the contacts , from the first contact point or separation area to the operating contact point or nominal contact area . These two areas are separated by the sliding zone .
The investigations show that the design of modular RJ45 connectors described in the IEC 60603-7 standard should ensure that the zone where the contact is broken and where sparking may occur or separation area is separated from the zone where the contact between the plug and module is located in normal operation or nominal contact area .
However , the higher the separated power , the greater the deterioration of the contact in the separation area . Some vendors have succeeded in maximising the sliding zone for RJ45 module and plug through shaping of the module contacts .
IEC 60512-99-1 is a standard which enables testing of whether an RJ45 connection is suitable for PoE and PoEP up to 30 W . IEC 60512-99-2 , which is intended to cover the power range for 4PPoE , is already at the planning stage . To ensure a PoE-compliant RJ45 connection , IEC 60603-7-x and IEC 60512-99-x must be specified .
Disconnection of the sliding contact produces extremely hot plasma which can cause local damage to both plug and the module contact .
