For Veeam in South Africa, Kate Mollett
gets the best job satisfaction when her
team overcomes market limitations, tough
competition, and gets the deal.
Describe your current job role?
nature so I try to match my style to what
I feel is required at the time and that will
deliver the best outcome.
I have recently joined Veeam as the
Regional Manager for Africa South. This
territory includes South Africa, the Indian
Ocean islands and SADC.
What are your
personal interests?
What gives you great
job satisfaction?
A team win! When members of the
team succeed it is always a good feeling
and very satisfying. Our market is so
competitive that we have to work harder
to gain market share and when we secure
a strategic piece of business or a new
logo – we celebrate and recognise the
achievement. Our market is tough, our
competitors are strong and we live in a
complex society so to remain energised,
focused and passionate, to walk the talk,
can be difficult.
When you look back at your
career what has been the most
memorable achievement?
I have been very fortunate to work for
some of the best organisations in the
world – literally.
The most memorable moments have
certainly had something to do with
customer as well as team success and
recognition. When I was with EMC, I
was part of the Global Field Women in
Leadership programme which was a
great privilege f rom a recognition and
development perspective.

I come from a close family so family time
is really important. Down time in the
evenings with my husband, my two sons
and two adorable French bulldogs is good
for the soul. I love to cook elaborate dishes
so I find time in the kitchen a great way to
unwind. I also have huge wanderlust and
enjoy travel so I am always planning and
dreaming up the next adventure.
What first made you think of a
career in technology? How do you cope with stress and
the demands of a career?
I was working for an executive recruitment
organisation in 2002 and Dimension Data
was one of my accounts. I really enjoyed
the passion, camaraderie and energy of
the organisation. One day, after pitching a
candidate for a role at Dimension Data, the
hiring manager asked if I would consider
joining them and I was thrilled. It took me
two seconds to say yes and I have never
looked back. It is not always possible but it is important
to try and switch off in the evenings and
over the weekends. It is important to
always have something to look forward
to, something that makes the effort and
demands of your career worthwhile, so
I find holidays and time with family and
friends to be the best medicine.
What is your work style as a
team leader?
Hands-on and democratic. I like to get
involved, I enjoy being in the field with
our customers and partner community. I

No, but I have been fortunate to work
for great organisations. Dimension Data,
EMC, Microsoft, Puleng and now Veeam
are all recognised for their commitment to
