Barrier breaking partnership to empower black women into tech careers in the North West of England
A new partnership is set to transform the lives of black women across the North West of England and inspire their entrepreneurial ambitions in the tech sector by offering fairer access to digital skills training and career opportunities .
Innovation hub HOST , the Home of Skills and Technology , operated by IN4.0 Group , is partnering with socio-creative organisation , Niyo Enterprise , to support its expansion into the North West and empower black women into tech careers .
While 17 % of women work in the tech sector in the UK , only around 0.7 % are from a black , African , Caribbean or black British background according to BCS , The Chartered Institute for IT . Women from a BAME background are also less likely to have leadership roles in the tech sector , despite having a higher level of education than other groups .

Cash injection for flex space start-up
Commercial real estate landlords who want to reposition part of their properties as flexible workspaces currently have two options only : either create it by themselves or rent it out to one of the large flexible workspace providers .
The tech start-up , infinitSpace , has identified a gap in the market : it offers flexible workspace as a white-label solution for landlords and has raised one million euros of funding in less than six weeks . The investment will be used to scale the business in the core markets of Germany ,
Israel , the Netherlands and United Kingdom . The founders of infinitSpace are North and West Europe ’ s former MD of WeWork , Wybo Wijnbergen as CEO , his brother and serial tech entrepreneur , Wilco Wijnbergen as CTO and former Director of the company ’ s European expansion , Elad Hod as CGO .
The Amsterdam-based start-up targets all landlords wishing to transform their office building into flexible workspace . InfinitSpace provides fully operational services to landlords and activates common and other underutilised areas in office buildings .
Egnyte , a unified content security , compliance and collaboration solution for multi-cloud businesses , has announced new integrations with Microsoft aimed at helping mid-sized organisations prevent data loss , address a growing number of regional privacy regulations and simplify the overall management of content , with minimal administrative overhead .
“ Our employees love using Microsoft 365 but with the multiple applications , including
Teams , SharePoint , OneDrive and desktop applications , we find it increasingly difficult to manage and secure all of our content ,” said Tony Schwingel , Director of IT Service Delivery at Brookfield Properties . “ With Egnyte we gain greater insight across how our content is being accessed and used , as well as the ability to establish and enforce consistent governance across all of our Microsoft applications .”
“ Accelerated by the rapid shifts to remote work , Microsoft ’ s cloud suite , increasingly frontended by Microsoft Teams , is now pervasive among organisations of all sizes , which has introduced new and unfamiliar risks ,” said Rajesh Ram , Co-Founder and Chief Experience Officer of Egnyte .
