SMBs reach a cybersecurity tipping point as rising attacks boost reliance on MSPs
ConnectWise , a leading software company dedicated to the success of IT solution providers ( TSPs ), has announced the 2022 findings of its annual State of SMB Cybersecurity report , revealing that the growing number of attacks are fuelling investment in cybersecurity , particularly with Managed Service Providers ( MSPs ).
Key findings show nearly three-quarters ( 73 %) of report respondents agree that their organisation has reached a tipping point where cybersecurity concerns demand action .
This year ’ s report confirms that the cybersecurity threat landscape continues to grow larger in both size and complexity , raising the alarm for SMBs , who no longer feel cybersecurity can be considered a secondary thought after other priorities .
Specifically , over three-quarters ( 76 %) of SMBs report they have been impacted by at least one cybersecurity attack in 2021 – a considerable increase compared to 55 % the year before .
Sussex businesses awarded £ 400,000 to help cut carbon
Businesses across Sussex have now secured over £ 400,000 in grants through the Low Carbon Across the South and East ( LoCASE ) scheme launched in February 2021 .
The scheme , which is delivered in Sussex by the University of Brighton , East Sussex County Council and West Sussex
County Council , provides grants of up to £ 20,000 to small to medium sized enterprises .
There are two types of grants available through LoCASE : business growth grants and energy efficiency grants .
Businesses that sell low carbon or energy efficiency products and services can get a business growth grant and use the money to contribute towards business growth expenditure , such as marketing , software , equipment , consultancy and used electric vehicles .
Recipients of business growth grants have included heating engineers , double glazing installers , renewable energy companies , re-use and recycling companies and sustainable architects .
University of Edinburgh start-ups secure £ 500,000 in grant funding awards
Five start-up businesses founded by students and recent graduates from the University of Edinburgh are celebrating after securing almost £ 500,000 in grant funding awards between them . The five companies have been awarded around £ 100,000 each through SMART : SCOTLAND grants .
The recipients are bennu . ai , developers of one of the world ’ s smartest bins which sorts waste automatically for a net zero circular economy ; Danu Robotics , a CleanTech start-up focused on advanced and dedicated technological solutions for the benefit of the environment ; BioLiberty , creators of a soft robotic glove and a digital therapy platform aimed at helping sufferers of hand weakness ; eMoodie , a mental health digital platform which facilitates early screening ; and transformative audio design and technology company , Black Goblin Audio .
Awarded by Scottish Enterprise to Scottish-based SMEs , SMART : SCOTLAND grants are offered to qualifying high risk , highly ambitious projects with a commercial focus .
