SMBs would pay 34 % more for an IT service provider which could provide the right solution
Cybersecurity remains a top priority for small and medium businesses ( SMBs ) worldwide , as revealed in a survey conducted by Vanson Bourne and commissioned by ConnectWise , a leading provider of business automation software for technology solution providers ( TSPs ).
The third annual report , Cybersecurity in an Era of Competing Priorities : The State of SMB Cybersecurity in 2021 , found that organisations are challenged to find a managed service provider ( MSP ) or a TSP that will help protect them from rising cybersecurity threats , and most would consider moving to a new IT service provider with the ‘ right ’ solution , and would pay on average 34 % more for that service provider .
2020 was a study in contrasts , with some SMBs growing in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic while others contended with increased cyberattacks and significant economic challenges .
Many factors contributed to the increasing threat landscape , including the rise of remote work .

Tribe , a customisable community platform that enables businesses to create their customer communities , has announced a US $ 7.5 million seed funding round . It was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and CRV with participation from Inovia Capital .

This helps to foster engagement and enables them to harness a valuable feedback loop to help enhance their product or service . Moreover , these communities empower customers to derive maximum value from the product , thereby improving customer retention and , ultimately , the revenue .
A growing number of SaaS players are turning to Tribe to build customer communities so they can get this pulse on customers , create a tight feedback loop , offer support and enable knowledge sharing . Customer numbers at Tribe have soared 400 % year-onyear since 2019 which includes businesses such as Pipedrive , ConvertKit , IBM , ASUS , Tim Hortons Foundation and Prudential Financial .
IT SMES in significant distress as pandemic fallout hits first-year milestone
The latest Business Distress Index from RealBusinessRescue . co . uk has revealed the number of IT SMEs in significant financial distress now stands at 47,000 – a 15 % increase in the first quarter of 2021 and placing 185,000 sector jobs under threat .
The website , RealBusinessRescue . co . uk , set up by Begbies Traynor to advise business leaders in financial distress , analysed data from Red Flag Alert and discovered that these firms in significant distress are part of 713,000 SMEs in distress across sectors , with a total of 3.2 million jobs under threat .
In addition to this , RealBusinessRescue . co . uk discovered that the number of startup IT firms ( born after 2017 ) in significant financial distress had increased by 37 % in the last quarter due to the pandemic . There are now 9,289 of these fledgling businesses compared to 6,779 at the end of 2020 – with an overall 149 % increase since the start of lockdown 12 months ago when there were just 3,732 in distress .
