Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent Health . tech . I hope you ’ ve had a wonderful month and enjoy the newest issue . For this month ’ s cover story , we feature Diana Mukami , Digital Learning Director and Head of Programmes at Amref ’ s Institute of Capacity Development .
Amref Health Africa ( Amref ) is one of Africa ’ s leading health NGOs . Headquartered in Nairobi , Kenya , it works across 35 countries in sub- Saharan Africa , with physical offices across the globe , such as Europe and North America .
As a community-focused organisation , the non-profit tries to look at everything it does through an equity lens . It also aims to support government efforts to find scalable , sustainable , fit-for-purpose solutions to address health challenges across Africa .
To enable this mission , the NGO recently partnered with Cognizant to enhance the data analytics and reporting capabilities of its digital tools . The project – funded by GSK – has allowed Amref to enhance its digital tools to get better visibility and understanding of the data they capture , to improve training and the quality of services health workers provide .
Mukami tells us more on page 48 .
The network is such an important factor in healthcare , with 75 % of all medical devices now being connected to the Internet , according to one study . However , this means these devices are more prone to cyberattacks . On page 17 , Richard Staynings , Chief Security Officer at Cylera , outlines the importance of cybersecurity in this sector and how to educate your staff to ensure you have a strong defence .
Dissecting Business only continues this discussion , where Jaap Scholten , Head of Group Hybrid IT at Datacentrix , tells us about hybrid IT and why it ’ s only beneficial for healthcare organisations to adopt it . He argues that ‘ data needs to be hosted in the right place ’ and tells us more about it on page 29 .
On page 32 , we feature Headspace , a global leader in meditation and mindfulness . Simon Miller – International Partnerships Lead , Headspace Health , talks to us about the company and its offerings , as well as the declining state of mental health services across the globe and why people are finally taking matters into their own hands .
However , that being said , healthcare is thriving in Malaysia . It is quickly

becoming a hotspot for healthcare tourism , with some calling it the ‘ hidden gem ’ of this sector . This agenda aligns with the country ’ s Healthcare Travel Blueprint 2021 – 2025 , and , on page 44 , we feature two Malaysian organisations that are helping the country emerge as a global giant in this space .
We also have a range of ‘ intelligent ’ pages , which feature the latest in Artificial Intelligence , cloud , wearable technology , robotics , security and Virtual Reality .
