A & E CAPACITY UNLOCKED BY CONSULTANT CONNECT ’ S PIONEERING TECH

Consultant Connect has announced its helping ease the pressure on the NHS Accident & Emergency service by connecting paramedics to consultants and specialists . Consultant Connect is used by two in three UK ambulance trusts in areas including the West Midlands , Berkshire , Buckinghamshire and the whole of Wales . possible for paramedics to receive specialist advice while they are with the patients – helping the patient to receive better care and saving hospitals vital capacity .”

“ Our service helps patients to get the care they need without going to hospital if it ’ s possible ,” added Jonathan Patrick , CEO of Consultant Connect . “ Consultant Connect also acts as a triaging service , meaning patients can bypass the queue at A & E and go straight to SDEC or another appropriate ward . We can ’ t solve the crisis in A & E , but we can play our part in easing the pressures .”
Once paramedics have seen patients , they can speak to consultants across various departments , including GP out-ofhours and acute medicine . The advice and guidance service – dubbed ‘ talk before you walk ’ – helps smooth patient flow through the healthcare system . Consultant Connect also helps paramedics quickly contact the pre-alert team which allows A & E to prepare appropriately .

CIOs have stepped into the role of digital evangelist and strategic advisor , according to the 2023 Global CIO Survey from Logicalis . The study questioned 1,000 technology leaders and explores how the role of the CIO is evolving . The most recent survey , The Meteoric Rise of the CIO , demonstrates a monumental shift in the role of the CIO from tech implementor to business leader .

Today ’ s tech leaders are actively involved in creating business strategy – 41 % have some level of responsibility for business strategy while 81 % say they are spending more time on innovation . They are using their technical expertise to deliver innovative solutions that drive value and competitive advantage . Over three-quarters ( 77 %) are now spending more time selling ideas to the board .
“ CIOs are playing a leading role in orchestrating transformation and are stepping up in response to the changing industry dynamics ,” said Bob Bailkoksi , CEO at Logicalis . “ Yet , CIOs are faced with challenges to navigate including a potential recession and talent shortages .
