EDITOR’ S NOTE
Hello and a very warm welcome to the first edition of Intelligent Gov. tech, part of the Intelligent Global Media brand. It is truly exciting to be launching a new publication focused on the innovative technology that transforms the public sector. It is for professionals working in the public sector, from government ministers to policymakers and civil servants to IT teams, to read the latest news, updates and advice about the technologies which are making an impact in the government sphere.
On the front cover of our first edition, we feature Renen Hallak, Founder and CEO of VAST Data. Together with Raghu Chakravarthi, EVP at Core42, they highlight the transformative potential of AI across various sectors and the necessity for scalable architectures to handle unstructured data. In 2024, Core42 partnered with VAST Data to strengthen the Core42 AI Cloud, a high-performance, scalable and sovereign platform that unites every leading accelerator under one roof. Purpose-built for government and regulated industries, the AI Cloud enables training, fine-tuning and inference at speed and scale while ensuring that data, operations and governance remain firmly under national jurisdiction. Our Expert Column this month is written by Sindhu Kashyap, Senior Content Strategist, Middle East and Africa at Intelligent Global Media.
She talks about the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’ s new strategy to make government AI-powered, cloud-based and citizen-centric. The pledge is to migrate all government operations to a sovereign cloud. The move echoes similar drives in Europe, where Brussels has championed‘ digital sovereignty’ as a bulwark against dependence on foreign providers. But Abu Dhabi’ s ambitions stretch far beyond data storage. Turn to page 18 to read more.
The feature on page 35, focuses on cybersecurity. Public sector IT leaders face the unique challenge of the need to defend against sophisticated, enterprise-level threats while operating under intense budgetary and resource constraints. Tim Killick, Public Sector Business Development Director, Aura Technology, discusses pragmatic, strategic approaches to building an economically sustainable security posture.
We also have an Intelligent Technology section dedicated to all the latest technology developments in the public sector world and a page called Project Round-Up which features news from across our regions.
