Data controller (organisation)
o The natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others,
determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
Data subject (individual)
o An identifiable natural person who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an
identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, or an online identifier.
Personal data
o Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’)”. The Regulation
states this also includes online identifiers such as IP addresses and cookies.
Data processor (service providers)
o A person, public authority, agency or other body which processes personal data on behalf of the
controller. An example is a Cloud provider that offers data storage.
