Right to Restriction of Processing
o Individuals can request that their data is not used for processing. Their record can remain in place, but
not be used.
o Whenever the data processing has been restricted, such personal data will only be processed with the
data subject’s consent, or for the processing of any legal claims or for the protection of the rights of
another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the Union or of a Member
State.
o Data subjects should be intimated by the data controller prior of the lifting of the restriction of
processing.
Right to Object
o Data subject has the right to stop processing of their data for direct marketing purposes or scientific or
historical research purposes or statistical purposes.
o There are no exemptions to this rule, and any processing must stop as soon as the request is received. In
addition, this right must be made clear to the individuals at the very start of any communication.
