Digital Edge strengthens Japan platform with strategic site in the heart of Tokyo

NEWS igital Edge ( Singapore ) has announced it has entered into

D a partnership with Hulic , a leading Japanese real estate developer , to develop a carrier-neutral data centre facility in downtown Tokyo , Japan .

The project , known as TYO7 , is designed to provide much-needed interconnect focused colocation capacity to one of the world ’ s largest data centre markets as Digital Edge further establishes its platform across Asia-Pacific .
Japan continues to be recognised as a leader in Digital Transformation and data-driven businesses and the pace of change has only accelerated since the global pandemic . the network-dense , downtown area of Tokyo is limited , making retail colocation space in a central location highly sought after by network , cloud and enterprise customers .
TYO7 is an interconnect-focused project designed to address this unmet demand and further enhance the Digital Edge ecosystem in Tokyo . The new facility will be situated only 1km from Otemachi , the central network hub of Japan and less than 300m from the company ’ s existing TYO2 site ( formerly known as ComSpace I ), which is one of the most network-dense data centres in Tokyo .

E expansion of its presence in Northern Virginia through the establishment of a partnership with Penzance , a Washington , DC-based real estate developer , to co-develop 7.6 acres centrally located in the heart of the largest data centre market in the world .

The site supports customers seeking high-performance capacity with low-latency access to leading cloud hubs and supporting network access across Northern Virginia .

EdgeCore adds another key data centre location to our portfolio and continues to advance our focus on rapid growth and development in key data centre markets ,” said Lee Kestler , CEO , EdgeCore .
“ We are pleased to have partnered with Penzance on this project and are grateful for the acceleration it is bringing to the process through its deep regional expertise and connections .”
This newly acquired parcel is planned to accommodate a 285,000 square foot , three-storey data centre , capable of supporting 36 MW of critical load . The site plan approval process is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 .
A dozen local and national long-haul fibre providers are located adjacent to the site , making EdgeCore ’ s newest data centre location in Northern Virginia an attractive option for leading cloud and Internet companies . �
