O network-native digital services company , has announced that it

will design and build a new data centre to provide cloud services for Egypt ’ s ‘ New Administrative Capital ’.
The project will be implemented in collaboration with Orange Egypt , who will supply the required infrastructure and services , following its appointment as the project ’ s prime contractor by Administrative Capital for Urban Development ( ACUD )
– owner and developer of the New Administrative Capital .
The ACUD project has been designed as a smart sustainable city located 45 km east of Cairo on a greenfield site , covering a total area of 700 sqkm ( 270 square miles ) mid-way to the seaport city of Suez .
According to the plans , it will become the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt , housing the main government departments and ministries , as well as foreign embassies , with a population of around eight million people .
ACUD has defined a master plan for the smart sustainable city based on five main pillars : safety , connectivity , integration , digitalisation and replicability .
The ICT strategy is an essential component in the fulfilment of ACUD ’ s vision , and the new fully secured data centre will be a cornerstone of the new city .

centre and critical environment specialist , to undertake a pre-construction services contract for the data centre upgrade at its Daresbury Laboratory facility in Warrington . This will involve supporting the live operation upgrade of the data centre facility which includes the life cycle replacement of critical power , cooling and protection systems .
Under the terms of the deal , Keysource will be responsible for establishing a detailed brief and performance specification for stakeholder agreement and senior level approval . Preferred solutions will then be agreed to meet the brief including associated commercial , technical and delivery related risks and considerations . Keysource will produce a developed design and commercial information for the contract and complete key enabling activities in preparation for the construction phase .
The agreed pre-construction approach will enable Keysource to collaborate with STFC to plan the works and mitigate risk to the high-performance computing load which must remain available throughout .
Jon Healy , Operations Director at Keysource , said : “ Having a robust preconstruction phase before undertaking the design and build or upgrade of a data centre facility has a number of major benefits for clients .
“ These include consistent tender responses and an ability to maintain cost control . For organisations that are operating a live environment it also ensures that there is no impact on existing operations .” www . intelligentdatacentres . com
