Alperia selects
Kaspersky to
protect its power
grid’s remotecontrol
systems
nergy provider, Alperia, has
E chosen Kaspersky to protect its
power plants’ remote-control
systems and distribution network that
supply electricity to 280,000 users in
South Tyrol, Italy.
The choice to implement Kaspersky
Industrial CyberSecurity for Nodes was
dictated by the need to have a dedicated
solution for the OT environment that
grants maximum protection, without the
risk of machines essential to the supply
of services being interrupted. Today,
Kaspersky protects 40 Alperia servers.
Alperia, a South Tyrol company
established in 2016 following the merger
of two major local electrical utilities,
currently distributes electrical energy
and gas to 280,000 users – operating 34
hydro-electrical power plants, six district
heating plants, over 8,600 km of grid and
700 charging stations.
Leaseweb UK opens Slough data
centre to broaden UK footprint
After careful analysis of the few solutions
available on the market, specifically
dedicated to industrial environments,
Alperia has chosen Kaspersky Industrial
CyberSecurity (KICS).
This solution is especially developed to
protect the different levels of industrial
infrastructures, including SCADA,
DCS, PLC, engineering stations and
network connections. The solution has
a distinctive feature as it implements a
holistic approach to grant cybersecurity
for companies and critical infrastructures
alike. Thanks to its versatility and
flexibility, this solution can be configured
based on an organisation’s particular
needs, meaning it can fit the requirements
of a specific ICS environment.
This approach not only provides
protection for industrial endpoints, but
also makes use of passive monitoring
technologies to identify anomalies and
detect any possible network intrusion.
easeweb UK, a leading
L hosting and cloud services
company, has announced
the official opening of a new data

to expand its service offering in
the UK. Leaseweb currently has a
capacity of 200KW and will service
new, as well as existing customers
hosted at its LON-11 and LON-12
facilities in central London.
The new facility is the third
addition to Leaseweb’s data
centre locations in the UK and
is undertaken in partnership
with storage and information
management services company,
Iron Mountain, which acquired
Leaseweb’s sister company,
EvoSwitch, in 2018. In joining an
important UK connectivity hub in
the home counties, Leaseweb
UK will offer competitively priced
colocation services to
a wider customer base and
expanded disaster recovery (DR)
services to existing customers
including service management
software specialist, TOPdesk.
The growth in adoption of data-driven
strategies to derive business value
has led to increased demand for
as-a-Service offerings such as those
provided by Leaseweb UK.
Eltjo Hofstee, Managing Director of
Leaseweb UK, said: “Leaseweb’s
expertise in these areas puts us in a
strong position to leverage this trend
and help businesses position their
workloads based on their needs, from
colocation to dedicated servers, or to
being a hybrid cloud service partner.
Adding a facility in Slough enables us to
tap into one of the biggest connectivity
hubs in the UK outside of London,
therefore enhancing our ability to
deliver according to these needs.”
