Orange Egypt to build new data
centre in Administrative Capital
A data centre for the new
Administrative Capital
close to Cairo will be
built and operated by
Orange Egypt.
T
he Administrative Capital for
Urban Development (ACUD) has
signed an agreement with Orange
Egypt to build and operate the new
administrative capital’s data centre and
cloud computing platform.
The data centre is an infrastructure
milestone to establish the concept of the
‘smart capital’ and is considered to be one
of the key technological hubs in Egypt and
the African continent.
Orange Egypt has been awarded with
the contract to build and operate the
data centre according to the latest
international standards based on the
company’s multinational expertise
in providing innovative technologies
and solutions in co-operation with key
international players operating in the
ICT sector.
Eng Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing
Director of Orange Egypt, expressed
his pleasure to co-operate with the
Administrative Capital as it is one of the
important milestones for the modern
Egyptian state.

Shaker added that Orange possesses
the human and financial capabilities and
expertise to manage this project in a
timely effective manner in compliance
with the latest international standards.
Major General Mohamed Abdel Latif,
Managing Director of the Administrative
Capital Company for Urban Development,
stated that the agreement comes in
line with the Administrative Capital
Company’s strategy to exploit all tools
of modern technology to build the
first Smart City in Egypt, operating
by Artificial Intelligence technology,
noting that the Administrative Capital
is first out of 14 new cities to be built in
Egypt. At the end of the signing, Major
General Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, Chairman
of the Administrative Capital for Urban
Development, hailed the agreement
stating that the decision to award Orange
Egypt with the contract to build and
operate the data centre was based on
the latest international standards and
specifications based on the company’s
expertise in providing integrated
telecommunications services.
He also praised the efforts exerted by the
ACUD’s employees to provide a global
model for a sustainable Smart City that
provides smart services for its residents.
The agreement was signed by Eng
Mohamed Abdel Latif, Managing Director
of the Administrative Capital Company
for Urban Development and Hisham
Mahran, Chief Enterprise Line of Business
Officer at Orange Egypt. They were in
the presence of Major General Ahmed
Zaki Abdeen, Chairman of the ACUD;
Eng Yasser Shaker, Orange Egypt Chief
Executive Officer; Stéphane Romatet, the
French Ambassador to Egypt; and Jerome
Baconin, Head of the Economic Section of
the France Embassy. ◊

According to this agreement, Orange
Egypt will provide the main infrastructure
to establish and operate the data centre
that will enable the Administrative
Capital to exploit smart technologies to
provide various services including but
not limited to, providing IoT solutions,
cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence
platforms, Triple Play services (Internet
– fixed phone – TV) and facility
management utilities.
